About the role

Location: Remote (United States); New York City or San Francisco preferred

Work Model: Remote

Industry: HR technology

Compensation: $150K-$200K base, OTE approximately 2x base, plus equity

About the Company

Our partner is a recently funded Series A HR technology company backed by top-tier venture investors. Their platform lets companies hire and pay people anywhere: an Employer of Record product for international hiring, alongside US payroll and compliance and a full HR suite. The business grew roughly 20x from 2024 to 2025 and is on pace to multiply again this year. The team is about 20 people across two US hubs and remote, with a results-first culture.

The Opportunity

This is the company's first VP of Sales. Today the sales team is one Account Executive and one SDR, coached by the founders, and more AEs and SDRs are being hired now. You will start as a player-coach, learning the product and closing deals with quota support through a ramp period, then take ownership of the sales organization and build it through the next funding stage: structure, process, quotas and people.

Incentives are tied to the milestones that get the company to its next round, and the plan is to consolidate the sales team in the leader's city once that round closes. It suits a sales leader who still loves to close and wants to build a team from the ground up with strong early traction behind them.

Responsibilities

Carry and close deals as a player-coach during the first months

Take over management and coaching of the Account Executives and SDRs

Set quotas, compensation structure and performance expectations

Build a repeatable sales process across SMB and mid-market segments

Recruit, develop and retain the sales team

Partner with the executive team on revenue strategy and forecasting toward the next funding stage

Requirements

Senior sales leadership experience at a high-growth startup or scale-up

Experience managing Account Executives and SDRs, setting quotas and building sales process from an early stage

A hands-on closer who is comfortable carrying a quota while building the team

A track record of recruiting and developing top sales talent

Experience in global employment, payroll, HR software or fintech is preferred

Based in, or willing to be based in, the New York City or San Francisco area is preferred
